Cunninghams Antonov

Breeding approval for Antonov

Based on his health findings (HD A1, ED 0 and no issues with his eye examination), our Toni (Cunninghams Antonov) passed his breeding approval test without restrictions today at the VDH in Dortmund.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Mr René Freimuth from the VDH for organising the event and to the two examiners.

Ms Christiane Lohman (VDH judge/conformation)
Ms Barbara Thiel (essence test)

for their competent and always empathetic handling of the dogs, without ever losing his sense of humour. So it was a successful and enjoyable day in Dortmund for us and our “Toni”.

What is the VDH breeding approval test?
Before a dog can be used for breeding, it must pass a breeding approval test administered by the VDH (German Kennel Club). In this way, the VDH ensures that only healthy, well-balanced dogs typical of their breed produce offspring.

For breeds directly supervised by the VDH, particular attention is paid to three things:
• Health: The dog is thoroughly examined – for example, for hip or elbow disorders and other breed-specific characteristics.
• Character: A short behavioural test reveals whether the dog is friendly, has strong nerves and is suitable for everyday life.
• Appearance: A breeding judge checks whether the dog meets the official breed standard – i.e. whether it is typical in terms of physique, coat and movement.

This ensures that puppies from VDH breeding are not only beautiful, but also healthy and strong-willed as they start their lives.
